Dr. Richert’s Experience
Consulting and Training Expertise
Dr. Richert has been a consultant to over twenty state and national departments of education, to local districts in more than thirty states, as well as to the U S Supreme Court, the US Department of Education and the U.S. Information Agency. Her specialties include: her research-tested strategies for maximizing student and teacher cognitive, affective and ethical potential©; overcoming underachievement by differentiated instruction; equitable identification and programming for disadvantaged and underachieving gifted students; data driven decision-making; strategic planning for school improvement; and meeting the emotional needs of students and staff. She has trained hundreds of educators around the globe from Hong Kong to Jordan.
Administrative Experience
Dr. Richert is the founder of the Global Institute for Maximizing Potential©. She has successfully administered over 44 federal or state research or innovative projects in education, including the National Report on Identification; Comprehensive and Equitable Identification (1981-82); one of only two USOE funded National Leadership Training Institutes (IGATE, 1979-80); the National Clearinghouse for Gifted Education Materials (1979-90); several multi-district consortia (1977-2000); a NJDE vocational education grant; a NJDE early childhood grant (1979-81); and APOGEE, creation of low cost effective gifted programs in 8 New Jersey Districts (1990-1993). She directed gifted research and programs at NJ’s area service center (EIRC) for 15 years (1977-1993). From 1999-2007 she developed 4 successful Special Education LRE (Least Restrictive Environment) grants and 12 Comprehensive School Reform grants.
Publications
Dr. Richert is the author or co-author of 3 books, 4 monographs and more than 50 articles and chapters in national education publications.
Editorial Positions
- Dr. Richert has been on the editorial boards of four national journals: Gifted Child Quarterly, The Roeper Review, Journal for the Education of the Gifted, and Gifted Children Monthly.
- She has co-edited a book on "special populations" of the gifted.
Leadership and Honors Include
- Invitations to speak at statewide, national and international, conferences in such places as Hong Kong, Vancouver, The Hague (Netherlands) , Budapest, Mexico City, Hamburg, and Amman (Jordan).
- Election to the Boards of the National Association for Gifted Children and The Association for the Gifted, a division of the Council for Exceptional Children;
- Invitations to serve as visiting faculty at such institutions as: Columbia and Rutgers Universities, the Universities of Maine, Delaware, Rhode Island, Johnson State College (VT), Rhode Island College, Arkansas Technical University, Kansas Friends University, Monterey Institute for Technology (Mexico), Race Desegregation Centers of the University of Pittsburgh and
American University. - Membership of, Steering Committee of the Coalition for the Advancement of Gifted Education on which only directors of major national associations sit and share and information 1988-1993). Education and other qualifications
Dr. Richert, received her Ph.D from Brown University, speaks four languages (English is her 3rd language), has lived abroad and studied in France. She has been a teacher, administrator, medical researcher and a counselor.
